Hi Barry,
On LWTA, if partner doesn’t have at least one of the A, K or 10, then we re unlikely to beat this and if he has 2 then we should be fine regardless. If he’s got 1 then there are cases where a small one might gain e.g. partner holds Kx with dummy having Axx opposite declarer’s 10xx and declarer tries to block the suit at T1. So I think I see your point although I’d have led the Q at the table and started thinking later I suspect. It is of course possible to come up with scenarios where either choice is wrong e.g. dummy has C10x opposite declarer’s AKx; just as long a partner doesn’t try to say something helpful at the end of the hand….
