I’m reading the column as correct. HQ wins. To hand with club ace. Take heart ace to reduce East to the inevitable heart winner. Give up a club trick while preserving the king. And then, with protection still in place in spades, lead through East to the preserved club king.

AH, Trick 3 – got it. TY. I read it as Trick 2.
Note that I was inadvertently offering the column line, albeit it transposed.
I still wonder why not play AH at Trick 2, and THEN AC and xc.

Am I missing something on the play of this hand?
I do not see how the column line – as precisely stated — works.
Maybe the intent was to play the AC and THEN a small club, “preserving the KC as an entry.”
