Hi Bobby,
I admit it is unlikely that South’s 1H will get passed out, although it is a good hand for an old-fashioned strong 2 even though such hands are rare. Yet suppose North holds Kxx xxx xxxx Jxx and passes 1H. East probably comes in now (say with a double), then South redoubles (or cue bids if East overcalls) then bids hearts again. North takes the hint, finds a raise to 4H and an enraged West refuses to believe the auction and gets the big stick out for minus 790.

Shadenfreude is of course not to be indulged in out loud, but there can be a quiet satisfaction in such results.

Regards,

Iain

Hi Dear Mr Wolff
Perhaps a strip squeezed also works. Win the lead pitching spade, ruff a diamond, lead to heart A, ruff another diamond just in case Q drops, remaining trumps and club A and K ending in dummy àfter ten tricks. If west is left with two diamonds with J, his spade K is now bare else he is thrown in with diamond J

Strip squeeze not squeezed, my mobile auto correct was faster than me.

Hi Iain,

To be consistently aggressive is my dream condition. Obviously it doesn’t always work, but the fallout, at least IMO, favors the bidder, since it more often than not forces the opponents to come out of a conservative mode or get stolen from.

Sometimes apologies are in order, but, unless I am wrong (very possible) bidding, rather than passing, becomes the order of the day.

Hi AVRR,

You are not only familiar with important high-level plays, but also the impressive names which define them. Strip squeeze sounds sexy, but to the victim, it is anything but!

Continued thanks to you and Iain for finding a way to always be there for all the types of bridge players who stop by.

Hi Dear Mr Wolff
Thanks and I am happy that the autocorrect did it’s job of correcting to strip squeezed instead of strip tease!
