Hi Everyone,

I enjoyed today’s hand primarily because it well represents the elements necessary to effect a simple squeeze.

Since rectifying the count (losing all the tricks necessary to lose, before the grand moment of squeezing one or more opponents) is almost always required together with, on this hand, of being gifted with telltale evidence in first the bidding and then the early play will usually make for more specific information allowing all declarers an easier lesson on what becomes necessary in achieving that (what should be) thrilling moment.

Of course, the ever present requirement of counting, always counting and then counting some more, never should be underestimated by any would be “expert on the way, to brightly shine”.

Yes, the above essentials need to be attained, but the good news is that, once learned, always remembered (well almost).

Thanks to all those reading the above who
have been expertly performing, and I hope agreeing, for more years, than anyone can, if you will excuse that word, count.

Hi Bobby, If South cashes Diamonds at trick 2 and 3 and exit with club West could win Ace and play QH? Regards Patrick

Hi Patrick,

In response to your plan cannot declarer then cash out his club tricks return to his ace of spades and manage to endplay East with either a diamond to make him lead back into the heart tenace or just cash out in hearts if East throws one too many?

I added the question mark for the same reason, since early in my career my partner, after not trumping my deuce of something with her low trump and when I only asked her why, she gave me the same reason I’m giving you, “I’m just too tired to trump”.

Good to hear from you!

Hi Bobby,If the QH does not work, then a low heart from West would have been right if the 9H was in East hand…come on Jim2 where are you? Missed playing face to face but this hand rekindles my interest in Bridge rather than 5min Britz chess…Thanks Bobby and the quote by Antoine de Saint-Exupery matches this hand very well.More of the same please!
But more importantly Best of Health to you and Judy. Best Regards Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Hooray for the blessed Internet most will say and they are probably right, but never to directly be in your company seems a great loss.

Perhaps my lucky fate will overcome that challenge. but if so, you may have to become a “bad” boy for us to meet up later. Only kidding (I hope).
