BWTA today reminded me of the 1970s Swiss convention where 1M – 4C showed 2 Aces and a singleton in a high-card raise to 4M and 1M-4D showed something similar but no singleton. Splinters are not just easier but better I suspect and help show the general improvement in conventions. I still miss Byzantine Blackwood from then though – a complex but incredibly useful Ace (and other high card) asking bid.
